As the ARRT continually works to ensure that the content and educational requirements of the Vascular-Interventional Radiography Examination reflect our unique skillset as technologists, the Association of Vascular and Interventional Radiographers is working to provide both our members, and non-members, with the resources required to meet those requirements as well as excel in our One of these resources will be our Second Annual VI Workshop, where technologists can earn 13 CE credits.

  • 8:00am Technologists in IR; Learning from the Past and Preparing for the Future (1 CE CREDIT)
    A lecture that will explore the past, present, and future of Interventional Radiology, with an emphasis on the role of technologists in IR Divisions today. Additionally, practical opportunities for today’s technologists will be discussed, such as networking, continuing education opportunities, and meeting the ARRTs upcoming mandates for sitting for the VI Registry.   

  • 9:00am Patient Care Workshop, Peter Simon, MD (1 CE CREDIT)
    This lecture will focus on properly assessing patients for a variety of IR procedures, managing patients during procedures, handling medical emergencies, and post procedure care.

    10:00am-10:15am BREAK

  • 10:15am Anatomy and Pathology, Alisha Hawrylack, RT(R)(VI) (1.5 CE CREDITS)
    A comprehensive review of vascular and nonvascular anatomy as well as corresponding pathology.

    12:00pm LUNCH

  • 1:00pm Neuro Anatomy and Pathology, David Pillar, RT(R)(CV) (1 CE CREDIT)
    A one hour review of the anatomy, pathology, and common interventional procedures utilized in Neuro-Interventional Radiology.

  • 2:00pm Visceral Angiography, Bulent Arslan, MD (1 CE CREDIT)
    This lecture will focus on the ins and outs of visceral angiography; it will review indications for imaging, common pathologies and procedures.

    3:00pm-3:15pm BREAK

  • 3:15pm Diagnostic Inventory and Implantable Devices, Brian Holben, RT(R)(VI) (1.5 CE CREDITS)
    The construction, design, materials, and indications for use of both diagnostic and interventional inventory will be discussed.

  • 4:45pm Simulators; Applications and Practice, Rob Sheridan RT(R)(VI) and David Nicholson, RT(R)(CV) (1 CE CREDIT)
    Attendees will learn about the development and application of simulators, and the significant impact they have had on education in the IR suite. Additionally, attendees will have the opportunity to spend hands on time with the simulators practicing tips and techniques used in peripheral angiography and endovascular aortic repair.



  • 8:00am Mock Registry (3 CE CREDITS)
    Participants will have three hours to complete a Mock Vascular Interventional Board that will help to prepare them for their registry.

    11:00am LUNCH

  • 12:00pm Post-test discussion (1 CE CREDIT)
    After lunch, a post test discussion will be held at which time participants will have the opportunity to review their mock registry results, ask questions, and engage with speakers.
