Chapters: Virginia AVIR


The Virginia Chapter of the AVIR is one of the largest and most active in the organization. The Annual Conference will be held  November 1-2, 2019 at the Great Wolf Lodge in Williamsburg, VA.

New this year is the addition of the VI Registry Workshop, which will be held on November 2-3, 2019.  Get all the review and tips to help prepare you for the VI registry! 

Discounted room rates and water park activities will also be offered.

Wake up for a comprehensive overview of vascular anatomy! Clinical application will include: tips and tricks for high quality diagnostic imaging, appropriate centering, and appropriate inventory selection for case planning.

9:30-10:30-Equipment and Instrumentation: The Diagnostic Inventory Tool-kit

This session is designed to provide a comprehensive overview of the design, construction, and application of diagnostic inventory, and will help attendees understand when and why specific diagnostic “tools” are utilized.

10:30-11:30-Head of the class: A Comprehensive Neuro Review

This comprehensive neuro review will cover anatomy, pathology, positioning, and procedures.

12:30-1:30-Equipment and Instrumentation: Interventional Inventory

This session is designed to provide a comprehensive overview of the design, construction, and application of interventional inventory and will help attendees understand when and why specific interventional “tools” are utilized.

1:30-2:30-Perfect Procedures

This “perfect procedure” session will talk attendees through 4 “perfect” complex cases including: EVAR, TIPS, LE Run off, and percutaneous nephrostomy. Indications, contraindications, procedure steps, and post procedure care and follow up will all be discussed.

2:30-3:00-Wash your hands and use your shields: Safety in IR

This 30 minute session will address some of the core components of safety in IR: infection control and radiation safety.

3:15-4:15-Annie Annie!: Managing Patients Before, During, and After Interventional Procedures

This session will provide attendees an overview of how to safely manage patients before, during, and after IR procedures.

4:15-5:15-Not Every Case is Textbook: The importance of understanding Anatomy and Inventory

This session will showcase a few “not so perfect” procedures with the goal of highlighting the importance of possessing a high level understanding anatomy and inventory.

Attendees will learn about the skills required to master image production and post processing. Tips and tricks for consistently producing high quality images that are invaluable for patient care will be discussed.

9:00-10:00-Mock VI: The Jeopardy Version

This one-hour interactive session will provide a comprehensive VI registry review Jeopardy style! Both questions and answers will be discussed in-depth. Audience members will have the option of participating as much or as little as they choose.
